A close-up of an official Girls State delegate packet laid out on a smooth wooden desk, including a detailed program schedule, a printed map of a mock state capitol, and neatly clipped consent and medical forms. A navy-and-gold branded folder with the American Legion Auxiliary emblem sits partially open, revealing color-coded tabs. A sleek laptop is closed nearby, next to a blue ink pen and a small stack of sticky notes. Soft, indirect daylight from the left casts gentle shadows and highlights the texture of the paper. The background falls into a subtle blur, emphasizing the documents. Captured from a slightly elevated angle with shallow depth of field, in realistic, professional photographic style, the mood is focused, organized, and reassuring, perfect for illustrating the registration and forms section of the site.

Our Mission

The American Legion Auxiliary Girls State program builds leadership, civics knowledge, and community service through hands-on government simulations.

Program Overview

An orderly workspace representing staff applications for a civic education program, featuring a neatly stacked pile of printed resumes clipped together, an application form titled “ALA Girls State Staff Application” on top, and a sleek silver laptop displaying a blurred application portal screen. A navy ceramic mug with a subtle emblem sits to the side on a light oak desk. A corkboard in the background holds color-coded sticky notes, printed schedules, and a pinned calendar, softly out of focus. Warm, diffused afternoon light from a window to the right creates a calm, productive atmosphere with soft shadows. Shot at eye level with a balanced composition and moderate depth of field, in clean, realistic photographic style, it conveys professionalism, organization, and opportunity for leadership involvement.

Engaging sessions, mock elections, and leadership labs to cultivate civic responsibility and teamwork.

A patriotic donation-focused still life on a tidy white desk, featuring a clear acrylic donation box partially filled with folded checks and crisp envelopes labeled “Support ALA Girls State & Girls Nation.” Beside it lies a tablet showing a blurred online donation form with a prominent “Donate” button, next to a small stack of thank-you cards adorned with a subtle American flag motif. A miniature California state flag and U.S. flag stand together in a simple metal base. Cool, even daylight from above and slightly to the left creates soft reflections on the acrylic surface. Captured from a three-quarter overhead angle with sharp focus on the box and tablet, in polished photographic realism, the mood is trustworthy, transparent, and mission-driven, ideal for a non-profit giving page.

Participants gain public speaking, critical thinking, and collaboration skills in a realistic state government setting.

A detailed mock legislative chamber scene without people, showing rows of empty wooden desks with neatly arranged folders labeled “Bill Draft,” small brass nameplate holders, and closed tablets at each seat. At the front, a raised podium with an engraved seal reading “Girls State” stands beneath a large, respectfully displayed American flag and a California state flag on tall poles. The chamber walls are a warm neutral tone with classic molding, subtly lit by overhead fixtures. Soft, balanced interior lighting creates gentle highlights on the wood grain and flags, with no harsh shadows. Photographed from a slightly elevated, centered perspective with deep focus so every desk is clear, in realistic photographic style, the mood is serious, aspirational, and civic-minded, capturing the educational purpose of the program.
A calm outdoor riverside setting representing the Riverside, CA location, featuring a clean concrete walkway leading toward a gently curving riverbank lined with well-maintained green grass and mature trees. In the foreground, a navy blue banner on a simple metal stand reads “American Legion Post 79 – ALA Girls State” in white lettering, fluttering slightly. The distant background shows a soft-focus bridge and low hills under a clear blue sky. Warm late-afternoon sunlight bathes the scene, creating long, gentle shadows and a golden edge on the banner fabric. Shot at eye level with the banner placed on the rule of thirds, in realistic, vibrant photographic style, the atmosphere is welcoming, grounded in the Riverside community, and subtly patriotic without any human figures present.
A well-organized “Required Forms Upload” workstation featuring a slim desktop monitor displaying a blurred secure upload portal with recognizable icons for PDF, DOC, and image files. Next to the monitor, a neatly stacked set of labeled paper forms—“Health Form,” “Parental Consent,” “Code of Conduct”—sits on a light gray desk surface, with a sleek scanner and an external hard drive alongside. A Girls State–branded navy lanyard rests casually near the keyboard. Cool, diffused light from an unseen window creates a clean, tech-forward feeling with soft reflections on the monitor. Photographed from a diagonal, slightly elevated angle with moderate depth of field, in crisp photographic realism, the mood is orderly, secure, and user-friendly, ideal for reassuring families submitting important documents online.
